Position Purpose

The Graphic Designer role is to design and create packaging, advertising and sales materials that creatively and consistently reflect the company's brand identity through a variety of visual representations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
* Under direction be able to visually deliver against brand positioning, marketing objectives and strategies, and reflect this knowledge in all assignments.
* Foundationally understand the brand and be able to translate that understanding into a visual representation.
* Execute visually compelling graphics for brand packaging and use in all forms of marketing materials
* Support the execution of the portfolio strategy through graphics support under direction from direct supervision
* Execute multi-language packaging needs in partnership with international stakeholders
* Execute timely monthly promo books that deliver on new product and brand needs
* Execute the development of new product lines inclusive of brand naming, package design and imagery
* Execute concepts that are on-brand and meet partner business objectives delivering packaging that can be commercialized in scale and in cost
* Execute programs and designs that meet the business objectives of the organization and that advance our brand strategy
* Execute and maintain the KONG Brand as it comes visually to life within the corporate HQ office in Golden, CO
* Take direction from the brand impact team to ensure feedback is incorporated into the design work
* Collaborate closely with creative director, designers and developers
* Prepare final press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing
* Make various formats of supplied artwork production-ready and resolve any artwork issues that arise during production
* Provide image retouching, clipping paths and additional image manipulation
* Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners
* Create PDFs for print and review
* Prepare images for online and mobile applications
* Catalog and reference art for future projects
Brand Maintenance
* Maintain the media asset library
* Ensure a video library is created and actively maintained
* Provide quality control over concepts and projects
* Ensure all products are imaged for use in various marketing and promotional materials
* Ensure adherence to brand style guidelines at every visual touch point
* Manage multiple projects from concept through completion
* Effective time management to ensure projects meet deadlines while delivering a quality product
Culture Stewardship
* Maintain a positive attitude about the job and the company while living the company vision
* Act as a peer-to-peer leader with the creative & brand impact team while delivering consistent on-brand executions
* Operate with a continuous improvement mentality, proactively suggesting improvements to existing materials and works in progress while maintaining receptivity to direction.
* Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support a variety of needs while keeping key stakeholders informed

Experience and Skills:

Job Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
* Wide range of design capabilities including a solid background in print, packaging, typography, catalog production, retail graphics and also some web design experience
* Must possess experience in a Macintosh environment
* Must possess strong skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, HTML and basic website design
* Must possess excellent communications skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
* 2+ years working within a design firm or other creative team environment
* Comfortable working with and managing outside vendors and printers
* Successfully manage time, work flow and schedule to meet deadlines
* Able to focus, with a keen attention to detail
* Possess solid presentation, listening and communication skills
* Open and receptive to design critique and able to represent work and stand up for design they believe in
* Ability to problem solve
* Able to work quickly and efficiently
* Experience with Adobe Premier & video editing (a plus) needed for this position
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
